**Please Note: ** Casa Elana is listed on both Google and Apple Maps. Just search for "Casa Elana Torrox".
If you are using a hire car, the start of the journey will depend on where you pick up your car. However, the best option is to navigate your way to the A7, then join it heading east. It will be sign-posted for Almeria. In most instances, you will first drive north on the MA-20 to get to the A7.
Once you are on the A7 and heading east, pay close attention to the signs. For the first few KM's, the A7 splits many times, so you must be sure you are in the correct lane. The signposts are clear, but the junctions come at you quickly, so go slow and pay attention.
Once you are on the A7 and have bypassed Malaga, things get much easier with fewer junctions. After about 20kms, you will pass a junction with a large shopping centre on the right-hand side called El Engino. You are now about 20km from Torrox.
Continue on past the next two motorway exists, signed for Caleta De Velez for the first one. Then Algorobbo for the 2nd. Don't take either of these exits. Stay on the A7.
The next exit, sign-posted for Competa and Torrox, is the one you want.
Leave the motorway at the Competa and Torrox exit and continue to the roundabout using the right-hand lane.
Do not take the first exit from the roundabout, signposted for Torrox Costa. Continue going round the roundabout, following signs for Torrox/Competa, and take the third exit, signposted Competa/Torrox. Drive on to the next roundabout, only about 100ft. Join this roundabout and take the first exit, signposted Competa/Torrox. There is a BP garage on your left.
Continue on this road, about 1km along it you will see the village on your right. Continue on this road, past the football ground on the right, to the roundabout.
At this roundabout, you need to take the 2nd exit (right), then immediately sharp right, up the steep short hill. You will now start to see Torrox on your right. This road will take you around the top of the village. Be careful. This is a very windy road that is, at times, narrow.
At the end of this road, you will come to another roundabout, with a road that bears a sharp right (first exit) off the roundabout and almost double-backs on itself. This is Calle Pontil. Take this road. Be careful not to take the road for Frilianna, which also comes off the sharp right-first exit from the roundabout. You need to go VERY sharp right onto the first street off the exit. It is a sign-posted Calle Pontil.
You are now right in Torrox village. Follow this street into the traffic light-controlled section. As the road turns sharp left, you will leave the traffic light controlled section (look for the traffic light for the cars coming in the opposite direction). You will then see Plaza Concordia on your left. Casa Elana is directly opposite.
PLEASE NOTE: Bus routes and times are subject to change, so check before travelling. The information below was correct at the time of publication.
Getting to Torrox by bus involves first getting from Málaga airport to Málaga bus station, then getting the bus from Malaga to Torrox. Although it may well involve a total journey time of one to two hours, it is a pretty straightforward, cheap, and enjoyable trip. The buses are comfy and air-conditioned.
Two services are operating between the city centre and the airport.
The A Express Bus (Line 75) and The Airport Bus (C19 'Aeropuerto) leave outside the T3 arrivals area.
Alternatively, you can take the train from the airport to the centre of Málaga.
Train from Málaga Airport to Málaga City There is an underground train station at the airport, thirty metres from the terminal.
At Málaga Bus Station, purchase a ticket from the Alsa Bus Company office and ask for the Nerja bus.
The journey time is approximately 1 hour 25 minutes on a ‘normal’ bus and about 1 hour on a direct bus.

We recommend All In Car Hire Malaga. (Click here to visit site)(https://www.allincarhire.com/)
There are many car hire options at Malaga airport. But be warned: Spain has one of the worst reputations for scam car hire businesses.
The usual scam is this...
This is just one of the scams many car hire places run on you. Always book a car on an "all-inclusive" package to avoid it. This will typically cost €100-200 a week, but you won't pay a penny in excess, even if you lose the car!
Remember: The streets in the Spanish villages are very narrow, so it's really easy to damage a car.
We recommend All In Car Hire Malaga
When visiting Casa Elana (typically monthly), we always use All In Car Hire. There have been times when I've returned a car with the odd scrape or dent, and they never say a word.
I like using them because they pick you up at the airport and drive you to their depot. Which is just off the motorway to Torrox, so it's straightforward to get on the road and away without having to deal with Malaga Airport traffic.
The kitchen is on the ground floor and is well equipped to cover almost all requirements. It includes the following...
Please note: Ensure you clean the kitchen and all equipment used (grill/microwave etc.) before departure. Additional cleaning fees will apply if the cleaner needs to do it!
The hot water for the house is powered by a gas water heater in the kitchen. The heater is on the wall, and the gas bottle is under the cupboard. If you can not get any hot water, please check the gas. If it's empty, there is a replacement under the stairs. If you are unsure how to connect it, please call the maintenance number listed on the Phone Numbers tab. Please see the house manual for full instructions.
Casa Elana doesn't have bin collections as you might have at home. Instead, you use the bins in the house provided and empty them into the big green bins at the side of the Plaza Concordia opposite on a daily basis.
Spain gets hot, so to help keep insects etc. to the minimum, it's vital that all bins are emptied daily, and no food is left on the worktops or floors.
There are new bin bags in one of the kitchen drawers.
You enter the dining room through the wooden barn doors from the street. There are various storage units and an extending dining table with four chairs. The internet router is located in this room. Could you not touch it? This room also has a smart TV and a large upright cooling fan.
A large storage area with a spare gas bottle is under the stairs. Also, under the stairs, there is some cleaning equipment and some beach equipment, like parasols etc. You are welcome to use these on beach days.
There is an aircon unit in this room.
The lounge is on the third floor at the top of the house, with french doors leading to a Juliette balcony offering views of the mountains and the Plaza opposite. It's light and airy with excellent airflow. A "bistro" style chair and table are provided for use on the balcony. These are stored in the lounge when the house is empty, place them on the balcony when you arrive, and bring them in on your day of departure.
There is a comfy Ikea two-seater sofa with a matching footstool. Plus a comfortable "Poang" Ikea chair and side table.
The lounge has a smart TV (see the Television tab) and an Alexa smart speaker (See the Alexa tab).
There are plenty of power sockets, some with UK adapters.
Both bedrooms have air conditioning.
Bedroom one is on the 2nd (middle) floor, with french doors leading to a Juliette balcony offering views of the mountains and the Plaza opposite.
There is a double bed with fresh linen. Spare linen is in a storage box under the bed. There are clothes hanging facilities in the alcove under the stairs. This room has an aircon unit. Please see the house manual for full instructions.
On the 3rd (top) floor, off the lounge, there is an archway (no door) to the 2nd bedroom room.
It consists of a large wardrobe, a dressing table with make-up lights and a double bed. There is an aircon unit in this room. Please see the house manual for full instructions.
The stairs to the terrace lead off this room.
This room is equipped with a hairdryer and various other hair care products. The iron and ironing board is also in this room.
The good-sized bathroom has a large walk-in shower with shampoo, shower gel and conditioner dispensers. There is a toilet and sink with a large mirror.
Guests are welcome to use an upright washing machine in this room. There may be a small amount of cleaning product for the machine left over from previous guests. Otherwise, you will need to supply your own. Please see the house manual for full instructions.
Sufficient Bath & beach towels will be provided for the booked guests. These can be laundered using the washing machine. If you require more, this can be arranged at an additional cost. Please leave all used towels in the shower when you depart.
There is plenty of storage in the bathroom.
The Shower
The shower gets hot water from the gas boiler in the kitchen. As such, it can take up to a minute for the hot water to "arrive" in the bathroom once the taps are turned on. Likewise, any adjustments to the temp of the water in the shower take a while to take effect.
The private terrace isn't overlooked and is well equipped for all seasons. It gets the sun all day long! A stylish wooden pagoda covers a third of the terrace with a solid roof to protect you from the sun and occasional rain.
The terrace has stunning views of the mountains and village. And offers the best bird-eyes view of events in the Plaza De La Concordia.
The gas BBQ is simple to use and big enough to cook a meal for four. The side-burner is great for cooking or heating water for coffee in the morning. The gas bottle sits under the grill. There is a spare bottle under the stairs if you run out.
Please ensure you thoroughly clean the BBQ after use. If the cleaner needs to clean it after you leave, there will be a €20 surcharge.
We've equipped the terrace with a basic summer kitchen to make the most of the warmer months. There is a cupboard for keeping dry food in. A fridge for fresh food and cold drinks. Plus a selection of utensils and pans for cooking on the BBQ & side-burner.
There is running water via a hose tap but no drainage. So please ensure you use provided plastic basin for moving items to the central kitchen for washing up.
The terrace has a large round table and four chairs for al-fresco dining. Two cushioned wicker armchairs with a side table for relaxing. And two plastic sun loungers for soaking up the sun!
Casa Elana is equipped with two great flat-screen Smart TVs. One in the dining room and one in the lounge. There are Spanish terrestrial TV stations in the lounge.
The smart TVs are connected to a local Amazon Prime account, with a great range of free streaming movies and TV shows. There is also the option to rent or buy shows to watch.
Please Be Aware: You are welcome to rent a show to watch, but you will be charged the rental or purchase cost, plus a 20% handling charge at the end of your stay.
The smart TV's have all the popular streaming services, but you will need your own accounts to stream.
If you do log in to any service, be sure to log out before you depart.
Please see the house manual for full instructions.
Casa Elana has three Alexa smart speakers connected to the Casa Elana Amazon Music account. You are welcome to use them.
You can ask Alexa pretty much anything.
Alexa, what's the time?
And she'll tell you the time.
Alexa, what's the weather today?
And she'll give you a full weather report.
Alexa, play hits from the '80s.
And she'll play all your favourites! (You can ask her to play other music!)
The house has three Alexa devices; the kitchen, the lounge and the terrace.
Please keep the volume to a reasonable level. And do not use the Terrace Alexa after midnight.
Hint: Ask Alexa to fart. Seriously, try it. Or not!
For security purposes, while the house is empty, the inside and terrace of Casa Elana are covered by CCTV, with recordings stored in the cloud.
Guests are invited to turn them off on arrival by simply unplugging them from the mains power socket. See the house manual for full details.
If you wish to leave these on (for security) while at the house, you are welcome to.
We would ask you to plug them back in when you leave. And in the interim time, to not move them, so we can ensure they always point in the right direction.
If you want to turn them off only when you are in the house and put them on when you go out (for security etc.), you are welcome to. Recordings are stored for 30 days and only accessed in the event of a security issue (break-in etc.).
There are two cameras in the house. One in the dining room/kitchen and one on the terrace. They are all signposted as working CCTV cameras. You can't miss them!
If you need to turn off the water supply to the house (in case of a leak or something similar), the mains stop tap is behind a little metal door, on the outside front wall, just beside the front door.
If electrical trip-switches are triggered, the main fuse box is behind a plastic cover inside the door. DO NOT access this panel unless you are 100% sure you know what you're doing. Casa Elana will take no responsibility for the injury caused by accessing this box. And if any damage is done to the electrics or appliances by a guest accessing this box, the cost of repairs and replacements will be charged to the guest.
Casa Elana has reverse air conditioning units in the lounge and both bedrooms. These are for cooling in summer and heating in winter. Please see the house manual for full instructions.
The hot water comes from a gas-fired boiler in the kitchen. If you cannot get any hot water, please check the gas bottle. If it's empty, a replacement is located under the stairs. If you are unsure how to connect it, please get in touch.
Casa Elana doesn't have bin collections as you might have at home. Instead, you just use the bins in the house provided and empty them into the big green bins at the side of the Plaza Concordia opposite. Please ensure you empty all house bins to the big main bins daily, and be sure to deposit all rubbish in them on your last day.
There are fresh bin bags in one of the kitchen drawers. Please use them.
